New CV drop-in sessions and Pre-Apprenticeships Programme

11 August 2017

cv workshop

Following applicant demand, the Apprenticeships & Workforce Department will be providing two new programmes; CV drop in sessions and a Pre-Apprenticeship Programme.

Group sizes for these programmes will be restricted to 10-12 to ensure applicants feel comfortable within their environment. The designated room is equipped with adequate seating, working space and PCs for individual use.

The programme facilitator has many years’ experience working within the Business Administration field as well as an Assessor, Internal Quality Assurer and Lecturer. This experience will enable applicants to be provided with appropriate guidance and support to promote employability success.

CV drop in sessions

This is a workshop provided free of charge where applicants who have expressed an interest in improving their CV can gain the appropriate support.

Initial CV drop-in workshops set for Thursdays, 7th, 14th & 21st September - 9am-12pm.

The outcomes for these sessions will depend on the individual’s requirements; where the delivery and support will be adapted. Proforma CV’s will be available for applicants to make use of, along with the use of PC’s and a printer for applicants to update their CV.

During these sessions applicants will have the opportunity to speak to a member of staff to gain ‘employment guidance’ to identify their employment/training requirements.

Pre-Apprenticeship Programme

This programme will run for four sessions at a time; one day per week for four weeks duration, where applicants will complete an accredited qualification, Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award in Workskills, which will further enhance CVs, and develop interview techniques, improving success in gaining an apprenticeship with an employer.

Initially, dates for the first round of sessions are: Fridays, 22nd & 29th September and 6th & 13th October – 9am-4pm. Applicants will need to attend all four sessions to gain the qualification.

Applicants in receipt of the relevant benefit will be able to access funding, with costs provided for those who are currently in paid employment but wish to develop employability skills.
