First Electrical Maintenance Student to complete Apprenticeship

08 November 2016

Mark Toomey, an Electrical Maintenance apprentice was the first to sign up for the Electrical Maintenance Apprenticeship and the first to complete his Apprenticeship with Bracknell Forest Homes. He is now working as a fully qualified Maintenance Electrician.

The Electrical Maintenance Apprenticeship concentrates on the maintenance of building whereas the Electrical Installation Apprenticeship is for students working on building sites and new builds.

Mark spent five years with us studying initially as a full-time student and then as an apprentice.

When asked how Mark felt about being the first to complete the Electrical Maintenance Apprenticeship, he replied "it's a big achievement."

"The support from the training advisors was good throughout my NVQ. If you need help, you've just got to ask for it. Allen was also helpful, a good tutor."

Mark would advise potential students wanting to take an Electrical Apprenticeship "to work hard and keep up with your NVQ."

With regards to his job as a tradesman he said, "I like going into a job and having to think about how I'm going to carry out the work the best and neatest way."

Allen Cook, Mark's Tutor said:

"Mark was our first ever Electrical Maintenance Apprentice to sign up for the scheme. Through his hard work and determination, he has also been the first to finish. He is a very quiet lad so it is easy to underestimate his willpower. I am really pleased for him".

Mark Hallewell, Mark's manager said:

"Mark has worked hard in his apprenticeship since joining Bracknell Forest Homes, he has become an important member of the electrical team. He is a good team member and always strives to do the best he can in all aspects of the work he carries out.

It has been a good relationship working alongside Bracknell & Wokingham College, they have always kept in constant contact with myself to keep updated on how Mark was progressing with his college work and how he was getting along with us at BFH."
