On the 9th of March, Health and Social Care level 3 students from the Bracknell and Wokingham College visited the Royal Berkshire Bracknell Clinic. The event gave the students the chance to talk to nurses and emergency response staff at Brantsbridge and ask questions about emergency care. The learners
gained valuable information about the services offered at the centre and skills needed to work within the profession. They were given treatment advice for common injuries that are urgent but not life threatening.

Students were shown how to measure rules rates, check for asthma and check blood pressures etc. Students were then given a tour of the centre before learning how to apply a cast to a broken bone.

Luke Minshall from OneMedicalGroup said ‘OneMedicalGroup who operate Bracknell Urgent Care Centre are proud to be making the links with the college and support in the development of future health professionals. This is the beginning of a relationship that will see us and the college working closely together in inspiring future healthcare leaders.

Students learnt from the valuable experience of the staff and had great fun ‘plastering’ their peers. The college looks forward to working with OneMedicalGroup in the future and thank them for organising such an informative day for the students. All students reported a valuable visit to see local care provision and that they would share ‘how great the service was’ with family /friends.
