Welcome Day 2015
Welcome Day 2015

The sun shone on Bracknell & Wokingham College yesterday as they opened their doors to new students who'll be joining the college in September for a Welcome Day to remember.

The enthusiastic school leavers got to meet their fellow classmates, talk to teaching staff and take part in a range of fun activities to find out more about college life, help bring them out of themselves and get them excited for the new term after their summer break.

Melissa Armitage-Ward, Administration Support and one of the organisers of the Welcome Day, summarised the event by saying: “We start planning the Welcome Days around the beginning of May as there’s a lot of logistical aspects to work out. This year our guests have been doing everything from introductory cooking classes, designing an 18-30 resort, taking part in team building exercises and much more.

“The aim of the Welcome Day is to help the new students get a feel for the college in an informal setting, to take away some of the fear they may be feeling of starting in September.

Melissa continued to say how the hope is that the new students will leave excited for the next step they are taking in their education:

“Overall I think it’s been a successful day. As always, our tutors have put in so much time and effort to make the day interesting and useful and we hope that all involved have enjoyed their day.”
