Getting into work courses - Spring 2015

We are working in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council to offer a range of FREE employability skills courses.

If you are a job seeker and resident of the Wokingham borough, seeking work and receiving some form of state benefit, then you could qualify to join our specially designed courses.

The courses offer a recognised qualification and will help to build your personal development skills, demonstrating your enthusiasm to get ahead in your future to potential employers.

To access these courses proof of benefit will be required upon enrolment, together with a completed College Self-Declaration form.

OCR Level 1 ITQ Award/CLAIT – Database Manipulation

For those with limited computing experience, this course will enable you to work toward a nationally recognised OCR qualification in computing, valued by employers. You will learn how to use database software to enter, amend and retrieve information from an existing database. This course will also include understanding how to apply for a range of job vacancies and present relevant job application information in an appropriate and accurate way.

Monday 9, 16 & 23 March: 9:30am-3:30pm
Wednesday 11, 18 & 25 March: 1:00-4pm
Please note attendance for this course is required for all six days.

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

This course aims to give you sufficient knowledge to achieve the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering which covers all aspects of hygienic food handling.

Tuesday 31 March: 1:00-4:00pm
Thursday 2 April: 12:00-4pm
Please note attendance for this course is required for both days.

There is a refectory area with a vending machine for drinks and snacks, but please feel free to bring your own. If you are attending an all-day course you will need to provide your own lunch.
