Students present cheque to the Ollie Young Foundation
Bracknell & Wokingham College students who took part in raising money for the charity Ollie Young Foundation, at the end of 2014, today presented Michele Munro, a representative of the foundation, with a cheque for £234.42.

In December 2014, Travel & Tourism, Hospitality and Hair & Beauty students at the college hosted a fundraising Christmas pamper and dinner event for members of the public to enjoy.

Arti Damji, 49, Bracknell, was delighted with her visit to the Christmas event:

“The students have been so professional throughout the day, it’s been a wonderful experience. My hair looks great, the food was delicious and my nails look lovely. Having the opportunity to get away from your worries for a while and have a good pamper is great. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

Students also held a coffee morning for staff at the college to buy cakes, biscuits and pies, to continue the fundraising.

Michele Munro said of the students’ fundraising efforts:

“It’s absolutely fantastic to receive their support and we would like to thank them for raising money for the foundation. We’re a local Wokingham charity so to have the support from a large local organisation, such as Bracknell & Wokingham College, is great.

“The money we receive today will go towards funding research into brain tumours, especially in young children, we have a team in Portsmouth that we fund for research. We also support Helen & Douglas House and CLIC Sargent, two organisations that were there for the Young family during their difficult time.”
