Who said staff training days need to be boring?

08 October 2014

The National Careers Service (NCS) have led the way inmaking company staff training days fun after recently appointing Bracknell & Wokingham College to run various workshops during their staff conference.

Marketing and Communications Manager at NCS, Rosanna Stimson, was very impressed with the planning and outcome of the day, and said:

“We employed Bracknell & Wokingham College to run a number of workshops at the NCS staff conference, including portrait drawing, aromatherapy, cupcake decorating, flower arranging and self-defence. The workshops were aimed at teaching staff a new skill and also used as a team building exercise.

“I found Chris Robson, our contact at the college, very helpful and responsive, and it was useful to be able to arrange the activities through a single point of contact. All the staff attending these workshops gave very positive feedback and I would certainly recommend the service to any other organisations looking to do something similar.”

Phill Peall, Careers Adviser, took part in the portrait drawing workshop, and said:

“I enjoyed the positive approach that was taken by the tutor and how they took the complex task of drawing and broke it down into simple processes, making it more achievable.”

Nicole Hall, Customer Service Apprentice, felt she benefited from the self-defence workshop:

“I’ve learnt some great techniques for defending myself when I’m out and feel I will now be more self-aware.”

Kelly Boxall, Senior Management Accountant, enjoyed the cupcake decorating class, and said:

“I would recommend this class to anyone. I had great fun decorating the cakes and will definitely give the skills I have learnt today a try at home.”

Sarita Khosla-Malhotra, Careers Adviser, participated in the flower arranging workshop, and said:

“The class was very entertaining. I enjoyed learning a new skill in something that I have never tried before in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.”
