The truth about college

08 October 2014

Recently Bracknell & Wokingham College held the June evening Open Event, and what a successful event it was.

Over 163 people came through the doors to find out all about college and what can be offered to them, with many signing up for courses there and then.

Ann Cuthbert travelled from Essex to attend the event with her granddaughter, Freya Cuthbert, who is looking to transfer from her current college in Wales. Ann said of the college:

“I’d have no worries of Freya moving her studies to here from Wales. We weren’t sure when we arrived if it would be possible for her to actually transfer her studying or if she’d have to start again; but the tutors that we spoke to couldn’t do enough for us in helping with our complex situation.

“They phoned the necessary people to find out what our options are and generally went out of their way to get all of the information that we need to know for continuing Freya’s education. Freya’s already filled out and handed in her application to come here. It feels like it will be a good environment for her and, if I lived closer, I’d look at doing a course too!”

Visitors to the Open Event were also treated to viewing the Level 2 Art and Photography Exhibition.

With both events being held in the sports hall, guests were able to wander through a wide variety of work, from fine art, photography, graphics, illustration, textile and fashion to animation; in between chatting with the tutors.

James Taylor, Vice Principal Curriculum & Quality, was pleased with the outcome of the Open Event:

“Once again both staff and students have showed the college is a great place to come and learn. The students’ art and photography work provided a pleasant backdrop to the event making the hall look even more welcoming.”
