College helps student secure prestigious Apprenticeship

08 October 2014

Bracknell & Wokingham College A Level student Monique Palmer has recently been celebrating an offer to join Fujitsu’s prestigious Accountancy Apprenticeship.

Monique will join Fujitsu when she completes her A Levels in English, Business and Accountancy at the college this summer where she is predicted three As.

Fujitsu in the UK and Ireland is a major IT systems, services and products company employing 14,000 people with an annual revenue of £1.8 billion. This means that Monique will gain invaluable experience of what it is like to work for such a large and respected company.

During her Apprenticeship she will work towards her Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) professional qualifications which will help to improve her future career prospects.

Monique was delighted to secure a place on such a competitive programme and spoke of the college’s contribution to her success:

“When I found out I’d got a position I was extremely excited and proud of myself. I left school because I wanted independence and to learn in a more mature environment. This independence helped me to become more self-motivated which I think made me determined to get a good Apprenticeship straight from college.

My Accountancy tutor helped me to write my CV and explained the kinds of things an Accountancy Apprenticeship would be looking for since she was once in the same position as me.”

Ginette Cox, Head of A Levels, GCSEs and Creative Arts at the college said:

“Once Monique had set her sights on an Apprenticeship there was no stopping her.  Focused, hard-working and a team player she has worked consistently through to the end.  I know that her parents are incredibly proud of her and so are we.

Fujitsu have made the right decision – she has been an excellent student for us and will be an excellent recruit for them.”

The college offers A Levels in 19 subjects, as well as practical based courses such as BTECs. We also offer our own Apprenticeships in a number of subjects, including Accountancy. For more information please visit our website or call us on 0845 330 3343.
