A record breaking RAG Week

08 October 2014

We saw a record breaking amount raised at this year’s RAG Week through the effort and determination of our students and staff.

A massive well done to everyone who was involved in organising events, running the events, all the participants and to everyone who donated their hard earned pounds and pennies taking our total over £2100!

We spoke to James Langdon, Student Services Manager, who said:

“From our ever-popular RAG Week, this year we have raised a tremendous amount which will be shared equally between our chosen charities Daisy’s Dream and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Both our students and staff got into the fundraising spirit and the atmosphere around the college was vibrant and energetic.

We had plenty of innovative ideas for fund-raising with efforts such as a Bake-off challenge, a retro sports day, a car pull challenge, the college’s version of Crufts dog show, an Everest stair climb and we even had our very own version of The Voice.

On the one sunny day of the whole week, we had live music outside from a great local band called ‘Jam Side Up’. They entertained the whole college and even passersby who stopped to see what was happening.

We also had lots of other events taking place too encouraging students, staff and the local community to give to our good causes, including: hair stenciling, face- painting, cake sales, a fete, bed pushes, sports tournaments, street collections and so much more.

Every year the staff and students really commit to making RAG Week a fun and enjoyable event because they want to make a difference to the causes that play such vital roles within the heart of our community.”
