A beautiful day for a college Open Event

08 October 2014

It was another successful Open Event for us on March 15 with hundreds of visitors attending to find out what we have to offer.

After weeks of bad weather the sun finally came out encouraging prospective students to make the trip to college - to brighten their own future.

Parent Andrew Stearn, who visited with his daughter said:

“This was a very positive experience. The college has great facilities and the staff and tutors are very approachable. We now feel well-informed, it was worth the visit.”

Principal Campbell Christie CBE welcomed visitors to the Principal’s breakfast and lunch where they could enjoy some snacks whilst they listened to his talk about the college and how it could help them to achieve their goals. Visitors also had the opportunity to pose any questions they had to a panel of college representatives, including some of our current students.

One visitor commented as they left:

“It was very helpful for us as parents as well as for our son. It gave us all a good understanding of what is available and we will be putting in an application to the college. Thank you.”

James Taylor, Vice Principal of Curriculum & Quality said:

“These events are so important to help both students and parents understand how college can help them both during their course and when it comes to finding a job when they finish college.

“The competition for all types of job is becoming increasingly tough and it is now more important than ever to employers that they are able to recognise the ability of applicants to succeed in the roles they are offering. Employers are not only looking for academic qualifications, they are also interested in attributes such as teamwork, problem solving, motivation and commitment. We believe that college is a great choice as it offers an alternative route into university or the workplace in an exciting and vibrant environment”.

If you missed this event the next Open Event is on Wednesday 25 June 4-7.30pm but in the meantime the advice from the college is to get your applications in now – there is no obligation and they do not want you to miss out on a place.
