Top Stylist comes to college

06 October 2014

Habia, the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority, visited the Harmony Hair & Beauty Salon at Bracknell & Wokingham College to demonstrate the latest techniques and industry tips in Hairdressing.

Erik Lander, Skills Team Manager for Habia, ran three Advanced Cutting seminars in the college’s salon. He taught college tutors the latest techniques for layering, razoring and barbering techniques on three volunteer hair models. The models include one of our own Hairdressing Apprenticeship Training Advisers, Helen Glaves.

Erik, who comes from a family of hairdressers said: “For me education is the key, and I lovebeing able to pass on the knowledge I have developed over the years to others. It’s important for the tutors to keep updating their skills because the hair industry is so fast paced and it’s always changing.

“The students are the ones who will ultimately benefit, and hopefully these types of seminars can give the tutors the skills and experience to motivate the students to be better hairdressers.”

Mark Packham, Hair & Beauty Co-ordinator at Bracknell & Wokingham College said: I’ve been involved in the hair industry for almost 30 years now after starting off as an apprentice myself, so day’s like this are really inspirational. Erik has been great in demonstrating and teaching us new techniques that will really benefit our students in the long run.”

Erik has built up an excellent reputation within the UK hair industry and works with the Habia Skills Team all over the world demonstrating the latest hairdressing techniques.
