Record-breaking Open event

06 October 2014

We celebrated our most successful Open event ever on Saturday 21 November 2009, the first in the new Church Road centre.

582 parties – around 1500 people – visited the college; 74% more than the previous best in November 2008. Applications were up 52% on last year’s event too, with over a third of the parties applying for 2010-11.

Ex-Eastender Phil Daniels officially opened the brand new Star Café and stayed for photos and autographs.

College Principal Howard O’Keeffe gave talks throughout the day, and invited current students to answer questions about their experiences on their college courses.

Howard O’Keeffe, College Principal, said; “I’m delighted that so many people are thinking of coming to college in September 2010. It’s been a really successful day and a great chance for our students and staff to show off the building we’re all so excited about."

Also on offer were guided tours of our brand new facilities, including Harmony hair & beauty salons, motor vehicle workshops and spacious art studios, and ending in theLearning Resources Centre for the best views in town!

Staff were on hand to answer questions and let people try their hand in the classrooms; practising hairstyles, putting on lifejackets and making cheese from enzymes.
