London to Brighton...on an exercise bike?

06 October 2014

Travel & Tourism recently cycled from London to Brighton in two hours…on an exercise bike.

The students came up with the idea to raise money as part of the Conference & Events unit of their course. They approached local gym Fitness Warehouse for the use of three exercise bikes and had three teams of five covering the 54 miles in the space of their Wednesday afternoon lesson.

Fitness Warehouse set the students up in a special room for the event and other students and staff from the college went along to support them.

Event organiser Dan Masey said:

“We would like to say a big thank you to Jamie Houlihan, General Manager, and all the staff at Fitness Warehouse who generously set us up with all the equipment and facilities we needed for the event.”

Students and staff all took a turn cycling the route and the event was sponsored to raise money for their chosen charities Retinitis Pigmentosa and Make a Wish.

Money raised from the bike ride has brought the Conference and Events team’s total for charity to £320.94
