Great satisfaction with college results

06 October 2014

The college is delighted with results recently released by FE Choices which show that we are currently achieving above the national average for student and employer satisfaction.

FE choices is the official site for comparing the performance of further education colleges like us and other organisations which receive Government funding to educate and train people over the age of 16.

We received a Learner Satisfaction score of 8.5 out of 10 for 2011/12, above the national average of 8.1 out of 10. The Learner Satisfaction Survey calculates these scores by capturing students’ perceptions on:

  • Information, advice and guidance received from their college
  • Quality of teaching and learning on their course
  • Satisfaction with the level of support available
  • Whether their college is responsive to their views
  • Whether they have been treated with respect
  • Overall satisfaction with their learning experience

We were also above the national average for the latest results of Employer Satisfaction where we achieved a score of 8.2 out of 10 compared with the national average of 8.0 out of 10 for 2010/11. The Employer Satisfaction survey asked employers about their experience when they sent staff there for training.

As well as putting us above the national average our results also gave us a higher score than the other colleges in the local area, as shown below.

James Taylor, Vice Principal for Curriculum & Quality, explained why these results are so positive for the college:

“The results show that our students value coming to college and enjoy their experience whilst here. They also find the support they receive invaluable in allowing them to achieve on their course and progress onto higher level courses, employment or Higher Education.”
