Good grades all round

06 October 2014

Your success is our mission!

- whether A Levels are your route or you want to follow a practical BTEC course to take you on to work or university, Bracknell & Wokingham College is the brighter choice!

Bracknell & Wokingham College students achieved a fantastic 100% pass rate this year (2010/11) for completed A Level qualifications with 82% of students gaining good grades at A*-C.

Stephen King, Head of Humanities said: “Bracknell & Wokingham College has achieved outstanding A Level results. Students who completed their A Levels this summer achieved an overall pass rate of 100%, a 3% increase on last year.

“A*-B grades were 50%, with A*-C grades 82% - a tremendous increase on last year’s 60% at A*-C. The students and staff at the college should be congratulated for all their hard work which has led to this excellent performance.”

Alex Wilson, 18 from Crowthorne got an A in Business Studies, an A in Media and a B in English. He said:

“I wish I could have done all my subjects at the college. I love the atmosphere here and the way you get treated by the tutors. I’m going to Bournemouth University to study.”

David Leahy (left), 19 of Bracknell got an A* in Maths, an A in Further maths and an A in Physics. On Results day he said: “I’m over the moon, I’m actually shaking I’m so excited. Last year I failed to get three As so I made it my goal to get straight As, the A* is an added bonus. I’m going to York University to do Maths with Physics.”

Natasha Herbert (right), 18 of Wokingham gained and A* in Photography, a C in Psychology and a B in English.

“I’m ecstatic I’ve got the grades I needed for university. I’m so glad I came to college, it’s much better than sixth form. I’m going to study Crime Scene Science at Teeside University.”

Good BTEC results can get you to university

As well as great A Level results, Bracknell & Wokingham College is celebrating outstanding BTEC results. Karen de Fraine, Senior Lecturer in Computing, said: “People don’t realise that good BTEC results are equivalent to good A Level results and will take you on to university. Many of our students this year have done particularly well and over two-thirds of our computing students knew they already had their places at university by the end of the summer term. These include IT for Business & Management at Herts University, Business Information Technology at Bournemouth University and Computer Science at Nottingham University.”

Patryk Wierzbicki (left), 18, from Bracknell, did a National Diploma in IT and got three Distinctions (equivalent to three As at A Level). He is at Stafford University studying Computer Games Programming and loved his college experience:

“My ultimate dream would be to develop my own game or programme and to see others playing it. I’ve actually got an idea for a game and I want to take it global! The college course has gone well and the tutors here really know what they’re talking about – they’ve all worked in the industry!”

Every year hundreds of Bracknell & Wokingham College students go to university after studying Level 3 BTEC, A Level and Access qualifications.

The next college Open Event, where we’ll launch our Prospectus for school leavers with all our full-time courses for 2012/13, is on Saturday 5 November from 10am to 3pm. Come to college, join our success story!
