Chloe sends sparks flying

06 October 2014

Chloe Edmunds is our first female Electrical Installation apprentice to have passed the newAchievement Measurement 2 qualification.

The new Achievement Measurement 2 qualification is a gruelling three day assessment which includes practical work with a test at the end. It is a very difficult assessment to pass successfully, which Chloe has passed with flying colours. Chloe is now a fully-qualified electrician and has done so well that she has finished her Apprenticeship nine months early.

Chloe, who is 20 and from Slough said: “I knew I wanted to do a trade and Electrical Installation seemed the obvious choice for me because it gives me achance to travel.

“I was a bitapprehensive on my first day because I knew I was going to be theonly female there, but I get on with everyone fine. I am still working at Scottish and Southern Energy and I want to go as far as I can with the company.”

Chloe, who studied at Bracknell & Wokingham College, is an apprentice with Scottish and Southern Energy Contracting and is the first ever Electrical Installation apprentice at their Slough regional depot.

Martin Doody, Contract Supervisor for Scottish and Southern Energy said: “Chloe hasabsolutely excelled on this course. She has come on in leaps and bounds. When she started she lacked confidence because as the only female it was hard for to feel part of the team.”

“I was worried whether she could cope with any of the usual grief and I told her to just do her own thing, because she can do it, and she has.”

“Chloe is extremely focussed and will be a very good electrician. I feel very proud of her. She has a bright future and could move forwards in engineering if she wants to – she certainly has the brains and the opportunity is there – she could go all the way.”
