Bracknell goes Bollywood!

06 October 2014

Bracknell & Wokingham College welcomed afilm crew into its new building to shoot scenes for a Bollywood movie.

“Rubbaa Maaf Karien” tells the story of a lovestruck couple – a Hindu boy and Muslim girl - who, after meeting at college, elope against their parents’ wishes and suffer terrible consequences.

25 college students were used as extras on the set, with some of the college’s Performing arts students landing acting parts.

Jordan Smith, a college student, said: “I was in a scene watching a group bullying someone because of their religion. I had to act like I wanted to stop them, but couldn’t.

“It was a very long day on set and sometimes frustrating. I really appreciate the fact I’m in it, but it’s made me realise I’d prefer to get into theatre acting. Maybe if I was more famous, I’d do films!

Ellie-Jo Lane, another Performing arts student, said: “I was in three or four scenes. I found it quite difficult when I was being directed but it was a good experience.

“It’s great that we can put this work on our records. I hope the film is released here so I can take my friends and family to see it.”

Filming took place on Sunday 27 September.
