Apprenticeship Week

06 October 2014

Our Open Event at Church Road in Bracknell is set to kick off Apprenticeship Week in style on 5 February from 10am to 3pm.

At our Open Event you’ll have the chance to meet some of the employers who take on apprentices through Bracknell & Wokingham College. Come along if you are an employer looking to take on an apprentice or want to be an apprentice yourself.

Dexter Burt, 18, from Bracknell, is currently studying towards his Level 2 Basic Accountancy Apprenticeship. Having previously completed a Sports Injury Apprenticeship for two years, whilst playing for Brentford Football Club, Dexter decided to change careers to accountancy and is now working at KnowledgePool in Bracknell.

He said: “I decided to come and do an Accountancy Apprenticeship at Bracknell & Wokingham College because I know people here already. I had no hesitation in joining because it’s a brilliant place to learn.

“I started the course slightly late but the tutors have really helped me out. Combining studies and work will allow me to progress in my job; but also allows me to get an education at the same time. Getting paid whilst studying and gaining experience in the workplace is the ideal combination for me.”

To learn more about Apprenticeships, and to meet the employers working with our students come along to our ‘What is an Apprenticeship?’ talks throughout the day. Aimed for students and families, the talks will be at 10.30, 11.30, 1.30 and 2.30. There is also a ‘Why employ an apprentice?’ talk aimed for employers at 12.30.

At an Open Event you can hear from our Principal, take a look around the college’s brand new facilities and chat with our tutors and students.

You can pre-register to save time on the day at www.bracknell.ac.uk/openevents. Or for more information please call 0845 330 3343.
