Achiever Awards 2010

06 October 2014

Our sixth Achiever Awards ceremony celebrated students achieving both personal and academic success. Dave Vitty, also known as ‘Comedy Dave’ from Radio 1 presented the awards!

Dave said “It was a glitzy evening with lots of very worthy winners. I was chuffed to be asked to present the awards and it was a chance to stand on a stage with people who have really done well.”

Emma Clarke won the Personal Achiever Award for Apprenticeships (Childcare) after gaining a distinction grade.

“I’m very very honoured to be at the Achiever Awards!” said Emma. “I’ve enjoyed my time at Bracknell & Wokingham College and I’ve learnt so much from it, it’s been a huge learning curve and I’ve had amazing support.”

Emma now has her dream job working with children with hearing impairments at Mary Hare School.

James Riley, a winning Media student, turned things around at college – leaving with the highest possible Distinction grades.

James who also had a serious car crashin his second year said “College was cool – I made a close group of friends. Everything was really chilled, not strict and now I’m pursuing my passion at the University of Southampton doing TV and video production.”

Dave has also just been confirmed as a contestant on the new series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, a year on from last year’s guest speaker Matt Baker appeared on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. Dave also kindly chose to donate his fee for the evening to Cancer Research UK.

He said “I chose Cancer Research as I lost my father to cancer eight years ago. It’s a charity close to my heart that I think is massively important. Anything I can do to raise funds for them I always try to do.”
