BTEC Media - Stop-motion magic!

This video was made by four BTEC National Diploma in Media students for their stop-motion animation unit.

They had the task of making a short advert for anything they wanted.

Filmed by James Riley and performed by Leigh Edgecombe, Chloe Williams and Nicholas McFadzean.

It took a few weeks to plan and storyboard, four weeks to film and two weeks to edit.

Each camera set up took almost 3 hours to get all the shots needed.  Every second of footage used 12-15 still photos to make the motion look fluid.  The finished product is made up of around 800 photos.

In each photo the performers or props are moved very slightly. This gives the impression of fluid movement when the footage is run at normal speed.

2008/09 was the first year we ran a stop-motion unit and we're really pleased with the results, and so are the students! The video was put on Youtube in January and has had over 600 views and counting!
