Radio Riley
Berkshire's unsigned musicians have
a saviour in James Riley, a college student
taking the BTEC National Diploma in Media.
Creator
and anchor of "unconventional" music
website Radio Riley, James has been finding and plugging
local talent for over 4 years.
"It started when I was 14, as a
half-idea I mucked about with in my spare time for my friends" says
James. "Now we've got half a dozen DJs,
interview great local bands and run packed
events!"
Although he's now sharing his airwaves with the rest of The
Radio Riley Crew, James still puts together a two-hour
show every week and looks after his website alongside his
college work.
"It's not just about what we do on radio", insists
James . "Last year we ran a huge event for over
200 people at Bracknell rugby club, and we're always
filming interviews and gigs for our video diaries. My course has
been really helpful for that.
"I was also lucky enough to do a run of shows for Radio
Bracknell, which was a great opportunity to show off the
site - that's probably my best achievement with the station so
far.
"I'd like to keep Radio Riley going on
the side wherever I end up. It could be the new
Radio 1!"
You can listen online, or on your iPhone.
Now in his second year at college, James plans to go to
university to train in TV & film
production.
Radio is in James' blood! His granddad Chris Cary was a DJ on
pirate station Radio Caroline, which inspired the
2009 film "The Boat that Rocked".
