Get work experienced!

Work experience is an excellent way to meet
people who can help you decide whether the career path you choose
is right for you, and who can help you get a job in the future.
Some college courses don’t arrange work
experience for you, but don’t let this put you off. Just ask some
local companies and at least one should take you on. Others do set
placements up for you, but you can find some additional experience
if you want to.
I sorted my own work experience at the
Bracknell News where I learnt new skills including face-to-face and
phone interviews, and how to set out articles. This was also a good
chance to develop my communication skills.
The Bracknell News also showed me how their
system worked and how they sent articles to head office. I also got
the chance to go out and join a reporter on a field trip.
When you do work experience, you learn skills
for your area of work which will be vital to future plans. It
proves to employers that you are able to do the job and improves
your employment prospects.
