Defending champions through to quarter
finals
Last week saw Bracknell & Wokingham College’s football team
advance to the quarter finals of the County Cup after beating
Reading College 2-1 with goals coming courtesy of Josh Whiting –
Level 3 Sport.
In a game where the score line didn’t do the
team performance justice, it was Reading College who surprisingly
took the lead after 10 minutes after a very shaky start from
Bracknell.
After going 1-0 down Bracknell started to find
their range of passing and were looking the more likely to score.
The equaliser eventually came from Josh Whiting after a good corner
delivery from Dan Carter.
In the second half Bracknell started to
dominate possession and pin Reading back into their own half. The
decisive goal came in the form of a deflected Josh Whiting shot
after some good work down the wing by Matt Leigh.
Stuart Carrington, Head Coach and Sports
Lecturer said: “We deserved to go through and it was pleasing to
see us have a good reaction to starting so poorly. Having
said that we know we need to improve in order to make sure it’s us
in the Finals and we know we are capable of that.”
Our squad finished 2009/10 as East
Berkshire Premier League Champions, County Cup champions and
runners-up in the East Berkshire Cup.
