Wick Hill refurbishment
We have worked together with, Bracknell Forest
Council and Wokingham Borough Council to give hundreds of local
14-16 year olds an impressive new centre in
Bracknell where they can learn practical skills. The two local
Councils have contributed funds and organisational expertise to
refurbish the college’s existing building on Sandy Lane, now known
as the Wick Hill Centre.
School pupils from local partner schools come
to the Wick Hill Centre one day a week as part of their Key Stage 4
curriculum for between half and two days per week, one day a week
as part of their GCSE courses. They learn practical subjects such
as construction skills in plumbing, electrical installation and
carpentry; motor vehicle engineering; hair and beauty; health and
social care and childcare.
The Wick Hill Centre will
also provide opportunities for disadvantaged groups of students and
those with special needs from the two boroughs.
