Workplace & Employment Skills Awards

Around 70 adult students were honoured for their successes in learning and personal development.

College Principal Howard O’Keeffe presented their awards at the Easthampstead Baptist Church. The winners came from diverse professional backgrounds, ranging from care to business.

Kevin Burton was Skills for Life Learner of the Year and winner of a certificate and cash prize. He said:

“I’m pretty gobsmacked! It’s been a great day and overwhelming to be given this award in front of all these people.

“I can’t describe the buzz I get now from being able to communicate so much better. My company, CBS, has been very supportive and now I find the demands of my job, like map-reading and paperwork, much easier.”

Charlie Roberts, the college’s Head of Department for Workforce Development, said:

“This has been a really special day for everyone and it’s been wonderful to see our winners’ families and colleagues coming down to support them.
