

Students present cheque to
charity
Throughout the past year Travel & tourism
students have raised a total amount of £590 for the charity British
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) Society.The students raised the money as
part of the Conference & Events unit of their course. The
students have found it enjoyable and rewarding fundraising as well
as helpful learning about the events environment.
Student, Charlotte Barrett whose sister has
from Retinitis Pigmentosa said: “Over the past year I have enjoyed
fundraising for Retinitis Pigmentosa. The benefits of the money
will go towards amazing research that will help my sister and many
other sufferers”
Student Chantelle Elmes, 18 of Bracknell said:
“To be able to be part of such a good cause was very rewarding
& to do this during our course made it interesting and fun at
the same time.”
Gabriella Reid, 18 of Bracknell said: "I
really enjoyed fundraising throughout the past year for the
Retinitis Pigmentosa knowing that our efforts will benefit the
people who have this condition.”
Louise Gigg, Senior Lecturer, Travel &
Tourism said of the students’ efforts: “The students have worked
very hard to raise money for their chosen charities, RP and Make a
Wish, whilst at the same time learning about the events
environment. The amount raised is a credit to their efforts.”
Trustee of the RP Society Stephen F Jones
said: “This is a fantastic contribution from the students to
the RP Fighting the Blindness Research Fund and we are getting
close to finding treatment for Retinitis Pigmentosa.”
