Connexions taster day
We invited some young people to have a
taster of some of the things they could learn at
college.
Part of a project run by Connexions Berkshire,
all of the group had been out of education and training for a
little while. They were keen to see whether we could
inspire them and take the next steps towards their
future.
Jaqueline Kennard, 17, from Bracknell said:
"I enjoyed my childcare taster. We had to try and talk with a
mouthful of sweets, and we also wore
special goggles that impaired our sight and had to
guide each other around.
"We've got to know each other and get on really
well as a team which was a nice surprise. I've also
had fun exploring the new building."
Poonam Modwhadia, of
Connexions Berkshire and co-ordinator on the day said:
"We're really pleased with the college's contribution to the
programme. The tutors involved have done a really good
job of keeping them interested in the taster classes."
Brian Uzzell, our Director of Student services said:
"We're glad we can give these young people an idea of our
courses. I hope it's given them some ideas and, whatever they
decide to do in the future, they now have more
enthusiasm about the possibilities that
any kind of education can offer them."
