Voltaward

Apprenticeships - Motor Vehicle

Voltaward is run by Dave Crombie, who owns and manages the garage based in Wokingham.

Dave came to Bracknell & Wokingham College 30 years ago as an apprentice, and has now taken on his son Tim who is currently studying for his Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship.

“I had seen some leaflets and press articles about the college and heard that it was being revamped. It’s where I went 30 years ago and because we're based in Wokingham it was the obvious choice.”

“Clearly lots of money has been spent because the facilities are excellent. We attended the Open Event last year to take a look around the brand new college and we were blown away by how amazing the facilities were.”

“Apprenticeships are the only way forward. 30 years ago they were the norm, nowadays there aren’t enough employers taking on apprentices. Ultimately apprentices help companies as well as being trained.”

Tim, an avid car fanatic said: “I have always liked cars so when I got the opportunity to work for my dad I realised that motor vehicle repair was what I wanted to do as a career. I tried other taster courses at college but decided I was more suited to mechanics.”

“I chose Bracknell & Wokingham College to do my apprenticeship because I live in Bracknell and getting to college is easy. The facilities are excellent, all the equipment you need is there and the tutors are really friendly and help you out when you need it. They explain things in a way in which is easy to understand.”

"I would advise people who are thinking of doing an apprenticeship to just go for it. It’s a great thing to do and you will never look back.”
